We are excited, Microsoft is finally offering Office Mobile for the iPhone!

Starting last Friday, the standard productivity tool Microsoft Office became available in the Apple App Store, and it’s free for Office 365 subscribers.

Office Mobile is designed to be used on the iPhone, and Microsoft is not yet offering an iPad version a new story in PCWorld reveals. While the competing productivity apps Pages, Numbers, and Keynote get the job done, they are not as commonly used in organizations.

One cheer for increasing productivity and making iPhone and Microsoft Office users lives a bit easier!

Money as a motivator works for routine jobs of the past, yet many companies still believe that monetary rewards alone will be enough to motivate employees to get the job done. If you haven’t read Daniel Pink’s book “Drive” from Riverhead Books (2011), it provides a compelling case for the 3 primary ways that motivate humans to produce the greatest results.

Autonomy- Taking control of the task, doing it the way you want
Mastery- Being interested in mastering a topic, becoming an expert
Purpose- Believing in importance of the job beyond yourself

Extrinsic rewards (including money, bonuses, promotions) work for repetitive, less cognitively complex tasks. But if you want innovation and creativity, intrinsic motivation driven by interests & enjoyment in the task produces higher performance. So fostering autonomy, mastery, and purpose in your organization can lead your people to achieve better results and become most satisfied with their jobs.

Try these tricks to use Photoshop better and faster!

Hold Spacebar to move a selection- Drag a selection with the Marquee tool, but before releasing the mouse button, press and hold the Spacebar to relocate the selection.
Increase and decrease brush size- With the Brush tool selected, press the [ and ] keys to increase or decrease the brush size.
Quickly zoom back to 100%- Double click the Zoom icon’s magnifying glass to jump back to 100%.

Adobe Tip of the Week- Printing Master Pages w/ InDesign

Using Adobe InDesign More Easily:

Did you know that you can print all the master pages in a document? Having a set of clean masters printed out can be very useful when you’re building a style guide or other documentation. You can also print out masters and sketch on them when you’re brainstorming design ideas.

Some people never notice the check box for printing masters in the Print dialog box because it’s hidden in plain sight, right below the buttons for printing pages or spreads. The only downside is that you can only print all the masters in a document. There ‘s no option to select individual masters.
